Two Unique Heart Cards With A Bit Of Snark!

Hello friends!  Can you believe it's time to transition from making holiday cards?  I can't, but these two cards featuring three of the Spellbinders' Club Kits makes that change easy and so fun!  I really enjoy showing you how versatile and easy these kits coordinate together and also with non-club kit sets.

For both cards I've used December Club Kits for the 3D Embossing Folder, the Embossing Folder, and the Better Press kits.  This first card even has a clear acetate front!

For this card I used the December Betterpress, I'd Pick You, along with the Embossing Folder Of The Month, Sweet Stems.

First I embossed white cardstock with the Sweet Stems embossing folder and glued it to the front of an A2 card base.

Did you know that the Betterpress plates can also be hot foiled?  They can, and I did!  I cut a piece of a Specialty Glimmer Clear Film Sheet to A2 size.  After my Glimmer Machine warmed up, I placed the December press plate onto the base to warm up.  When it was ready I added a piece of pink Satin Pastel Glimmer Foil.

After running it through my Platinum die cutting machine, I adhered the top edge of the clear foiled piece to my card base with double-sided adhesive.

Then I noticed that the beautiful embossed layer kind of interfered with seeing the foiling on the acetate.  To fix that I used the press plate as a guide to trace the shape onto white cardstock.  I cut it out with scissors and then adhered it to the embossed layer, behind the foiled heart.

The sentiment is one of three included with the I'd Pick You set.  I chose this one because my husband will think it's pretty funny.  I'll save this card for Valentine's Day!  After I pressed the sentiment plate (it presses all three at once) with black Betterpress ink used the included die to cut them all out.

I added a few gem stickers around the sentiment for just a touch of bling.

My second card is just as pretty and still different from the first!

First I embossed pink cardstock with the Unlock My Heart 3D embossing folder for from December's Club Kit.  I used a darker coordinating ink to add shading around the edges with the blending brush.  I used glue to adhere it to an A2 card base.

Next I used more of the pink Glimmer Foil with my Glimmer System to press the image onto Spellbinders Specialty Glimmer cardstock.  If you ever want the most perfectly foiled image, use this cardstock!!  Again, I used scissors to trim around the heart.  I adhered it to the card with some foam adhesive.

I thought the little pick with hearts (from the Love On The Rocks die set) was absolutely perfect to go with the "I'd pick you again" sentiment. What do you think?

There is still plenty of time for you to check out the Club Kits and find one you would like to join!  The terms are very flexible and you can cancel at any time.  Check it out here.

Ho Ho Ho! A Vintage Santa Christmas Card

Hello crafty friends!  With eight days to go until Christmas, I thought I'd make a card to share with you using Honey Bee Stamps totally amazing Lovely Layers: Vintage Santa Honey Cuts.  The details on this Santa's face are truly amazing and so life like!

First I worked on making the Lovely Layers: Vintage Santa.  I die cut red and brown cardstocks with the clothing dies.  All other die cut pieces are from white cardstock.

I used Copic markers to color each die cut of the facial details.  Here is a list of colors I used:

  • skin tones: E11, E50, E51, E53
  • cheeks, tongue: R20, R21, R30
  • eyes: BG02, 100
  • shading hair/beard and trim on clothes: B0000, C00, C00, C01

I also used a dark red and brown Copic maker to add some quick shading to the clothes and boots.

Using the Layering Guide (link to download is in product description) is so helpful when assembling the layers for the first time.  I used Bee Creative glue to adhere each layer.  Then I added details to Santa's cheeks, hat, and clothes with a white gel pen.

Next I die cut green cardstock with the Pine Trees Honey Cuts.  I used a blending brush to add dark green ink for shading.  Then I used my finger to add Snowfall Distress Grit Paste here and there on the trees.  I set them aside to dry.

Next I created a fun bokeh watercolor background.  Later today, I will have a reel on my Instagram where you can see exactly how I made this.  The basic steps are as follows.

  • Trim watercolor paper to 5" x 7" and tape it down to your work surface with removable tape.
  • Use a wide flat paintbrush to wet the entire panel.
  • Starting at the top, brush on dark blue watercolor from side to side to create an ombre look.
  • For the bokeh dots I took a small piece of clean paper towel and wrapped a few coins of different sizes with it.  If you panel is still wet, just dab the wrapped coin onto the panel to lift the paint.
  • My panel was dry, so I misted just a bit of water onto the paper towel and pressed it onto the painted surface to lift off the paint.
  • Next I diluted bleed-proof white paint with a bit of water and added splatters to the panel with a paint brush.

When the splatters were dry, I diluted more white paint and used a brush to paint the snowy ground and dried it with my heat tool.  Then  I used a pallet knife to smear Snowfall Distress Grit Paste over the white paint.  This Grit Paste gives a subtle sparkle for the snow.

I adhered the dry panel to a 5" x 7" card base.  Then I used glue and foam tape to adhere all of the elements to the card.

I'm still using the sentiments from the Simply Stated: Holiday stamp set.  I stamped this once a few weeks ago.  You get 14 sentiments on one stamp!  Then die cut them out all at once with the coordinating Simply Stated die.

I find creating backgrounds like this one so very relaxing!  Do you ever create inky backgrounds for your cards?  You should try it!  Just remember to have fun and don't worry about messing up--it's just paper!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I'll be back here on Christmas Eve to share one more holiday card!  Have a wonderful week until then!

Have A Brew-tiful Day!

Hello!  I'm here today to share my card with one of the newest House Mouse Heart And Soul collection by Spellbinder's!  The set I've used today is called Brew-tiful Day!  This stamp features the cute little mouse, named Amanda, sipping from a big cup of coffee!!

First I die cut white cardstock with an Essential Arches die.  Then I die cut a folded card base with the same die to create my shaped card.  Just be sure to have the top cutting edge of the die above the fold of the card base.

Next I stamped the Brew-tiful Day image onto it with Copic marker safe black ink.  Before I put the stamp away, I also stamped it onto some masking paper.  I cut out the mask with my scissors.

After placing the mask over the image,  I used a t-square ruler and a pencil to draw a very light line to mark where I wanted to end the "wall" color and placed a piece of removable tape along and below the line.  Then I used an ink blending brush to add some peachy colored ink for the wall and gray ink for the surface.

I colored the image with my Copic markers.  These detailed images are so easy to color with the image's shadowing added by the artist.

Next I chose one of the three sentiments included in the Brew-tiful Day stamp set and stamped it with black pigment ink.  To finish, I glued the colored layer to my card base.

And just like that I have my uniquely shaped card all finished!  Be sure to check out the other adorable House Mouse sets in the Heart And Soul collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope it's an awesome day for you!

Holiday Tags (That Can Be Ornaments Too!)

Hello crafty friends!  Just in time for present wrapping, this week for Honey Bee Stamps, we are sharing hand made tags!  My tags are made using three of the In Stitches die sets sets can also be used as ornaments by your recipients!!  I love a two-for-one!

I created the tags/ornaments from three of the holiday In Stitches sets.  I used In Stitches: Christmas TreeIn Stitches: Snowflake, and In Stitches: Ornaments.  One tag is made with more stitching, another with less stitching, and one tag with no stitching!

Starting with the In Stitches: Christmas Tree, I die cut the three top layers from green felt.  To reinforce the felt, I put a Tear Tape Sheet onto white cardstock and die cut those three top layers again.  I removed the top backing layer of the adhesive and carefully lined up the felt layers to adhere them to the white cardstock.

One more piece to die cut is the Christmas Tree bottom layer.  I die cut that from white cardstock.  I stamped sentiments onto the tree layer using green ink and some stamps from the Tag, You're It: Holidays stamp set.  (TIP: For all three ornaments, stamp the sentiment before assembling the layers.)

Next I did a simple stitching on the Christmas Tree with some gold thread.  I put pieces of Double-Sided Super Sticky Red Tape to the back of the three layers to adhere them to the bottom layer.

Here is a photo of all three tags with sentiments (all from the Tag, You're It: Holidays stamp set).

Next up is the In Stitches: Ornament.  I die cut all of the layers as I did above for the Christmas Tree.  Before I adhered any layers together I used white embroidery floss to add stitching in the center of the ornament.  When that is done, the stitching can be finished around the edges.

I saved a bit of stitching time by doing a simple running stitch around the outside edges of the ornament.  When finished, I adhered all of the layers together.

The final tag/ornament was made using the In Stitches: Snowflake.  I die cut the bottom layer three times.  Once from glitter cardstock, another from white felt. and then white cardstock with a Tear Tape Sheet.

To assemble the layers (top to bottom) I removed the backing sheet from the double-sided adhesive layer and adhered the felt die cut.

Next I glued the glitter cardstock layer to the back of the felt/cardstock layer.  Finally, the stamped layer was glued to the back of the piece.

I die cut one more snowflake from the Layering: Snowflake Honey Cuts from glitter cardstock to use when I added the embellishments.

If you have been crafting for a long time (like me!) then you will have a lovely collection of ribbons and embellishments that you have saved over the years.  Now is the time to pull some of those out!

I used various ribbons, sequins, and jingle bells to add fun touches to each tag/ornament!

Quick tip(s):  1. I noticed that a couple of the edges on the Christmas Tree's layers were not sticking down.  I just added glue to the edge and clamped each one down with my reverse tweezers.  2. This Die Release Tool will be your very best friend when it comes to removing any remaining holes from the stitching areas of Honey Bee's In Stitches dies!

Here is one more look, for you, of all three tags/ornaments!  Do you think you would like to receive a gift with a handmade tag that can be kept to use as an ornament?  I hope you would!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you are enjoying the spirit of this season, and getting in some fun crafty time too!!

Today I have three cards to share with you.  Each features one or more of some fabulous die sets, stamps and an embossing folder that are part of the DieCember® release!

For my first card I've used the SO adorable Snuggle Snowman die set!  I love snowmen, and these are some of the cutest, I think!

I die cut the Snuggle Snowman dies from white, red, and green cardstocks, three times.  I glued the three snowman layers together.  I just had to have three of these adorable snowmen!!

The background is blue cardstock embossed with the Forest Border embossing folder.  I added Night ink around the edges with an ink blending brush.  Then I added white pigment ink to the bottom of the panel.

Next I diluted a bit of Splatter White Opaque Watercolor with a few drops of water.  I used a paint brush to add splatters over the panel.  When it was dry I glued it to an A2 card base.

I used foam tape to adhere the three adorable Snuggle Snowman images to the card.

The sentiment is from the Jolly Christmas stamp set.  I stamped it with clear embossing ink, added white embossing powder, and set it with my heat tool.  I trimmed the sentiment into a strip and popped it up onto the card.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next I created a greeting card and coordinating gift tag using the fun and easy-to-stitch Stitching Holly and Berries dies!

I used the new Basic Shapes Squares die set to die cut white and silver cardstock to use on the card and tag.

The tag's white square and an A2 sized piece of white cardstock are embossed with the Pepperberry Bundles embossing folder.

The feature element of this card and tag is the fun new Stitching Holly and Berries die set.  If you are new to stitching on cardstock, then this set is for you!  I stitched all six leaves with embroidery floss in just a few minutes.

The tag's sentiment is from the new Tag Greetings stamp set.  For the sentiment, I chose one from the Holy Night stamp set.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My final card features the beautiful Fawn Surprise embossing folder and the Little Winter Banners die set in a sweet, snowy and simple design.

I cut a 4" x 5-½" piece of white glitter cardstock to emboss with the Fawn Surprise embossing folder.  Tip:  Add one or two "shims" of printer paper to add a bit more pressure for the glitter paper.  I adhered that with glue to a piece of silver mirror cardstock and then those to an A2 card.

I die cut the sentiments from silver and white glitter cardstock.  After I glued the layers together, I popped each one up on the card with foam tape.

This was such an easy card to make!!

That's all from me and I hope you found some inspiration here.  Thank you so much for stopping by!   If you would like, please check out all of my supplies in the list below.

Nutcracker Die Cut Holiday Card With Non-traditional Colors

Hello crafty friends!  Now that we are into December, (can you believe it?!) I am making as many Christmas cards as I can and hope to still have time to mail them!  What about you?  Well, if you aren't finished either, I have some inspiration to share today!  My card features Honey Bee Stamps awesome Lovely Layers: Nutcracker dies.  Check it out!

I put a different twist on the Lovely Layers: Nutcracker by using pastel colors instead of the typical red.  I chose some minty green cardstocks, a very pale peach color cardstock, matte gold cardstock, and 80# Neenah to die cut each of the various layers.

I love how Honey Bee provides layering guides for the Lovely Layers sets!  The Nutcracker has some small die cut pieces, but the layering guides makes the assembly easy!  I used Bee Creative glue to adhere all of the layers together.

Note:  I did use a few Copic markers to color the skin and hair.

For the background, I embossed a 4-¼" x 5-½" piece of white cardstock with the beautiful Into The Woods 3D embossing folder and glued it to an A2 card base.

Then I cut white cardstock with my scissors to make a hilly, snowy ground layer and glued that at the bottom of my card.

For more detail, I die cut two shades of minty green and peach cardstocks with the Lovely Layers: Trees dies to create two trees.  For the tree trunk, I die cut gold matte cardstock.  I glued the large tree to the base.  Then I popped up the smaller tree and the Nutcracker with foam tape.

I still have sentiments saved from the one time I stamped the awesome Simply Stated: Holiday stamp.  I love that you get all these sentiments at once and then can die cut them all at once with the Simply Stated die!  I used a foam tape strip to adhere the sentiment to my card.

For a bit of bling, I added gold and pearl stickers from the Merry Moments Pearl Stickers.

I hope you love this Lovely Layers: Nutcracker in the non-traditional colors as much as I do!  Thank you so very much for stopping by!  I hope your day is wonderful!
