Spellbinders January Embossing Folder of The Month -- Birthday Card

I'm very happy to be sharing this card I made with Spellbinders January Embossing Folder of The Month!  January's embossing folder is a beautiful leafy one that will make a beautiful background for many different styles of cards!

Spellbinders has many different clubs to join with stamps, dies, embossing folders, BetterPress Letterpress  plates, and more!  There are several other benefits of belonging to a Spellbinders Club.  Check it all out on their club information page.  You can join these clubs this month from January 6 to January 27.

This was a quick and easy card today!  First I used the "Branching Out" Embossing Folder of the Month to emboss an A2 sized piece of 80# Neenah.  I glued that to my card base and set it aside to work on the other elements.

I die cut the Sealed Twine die from pink cardstock and adhered it to the card.  I wrapped the extra around to the back of the card.  Next time, I will probably just cut it flush with the card edges.

Did you see my previous post where I said I misplaced the January Stitching Die set and didn't use the included flowers?  Well, the flowers on this card are from that set!  Haha!  Of course, any small flower dies you have would be beautiful too.  After I die cut them from colored cardstock (colors linked below) I glued the layers together and then added them to my card.

I added a sentiment by making a wax seal with the Sweet Happy Birthday wax seal stamp.  I used a gold pigment pen to color over the details of the seal.

These clubs really do have something for everyone, and if desired, can be cancelled at any time.  Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I appreciate you!

Birthday Card and Wax Seals

Today I'm sharing a card that features Spellbinders new Sealed Blooming Stems die set from the new Sealed For Summer collection!  I added a fun wax seal to the card in lieu of stamping a sentiment.  (P.S.:  I just noticed that as of the date of this blog, the product title describes these as "hot foil plates".  They are not!)

First I created the stems and flowers by die cutting all of the pieces in the Seal Blooming Stems set from colored cardstock.  I have all of the cardstock I used in the list below.  Using colored cardstock makes it super easy and quick to create the elements for a card.  I didn't even add shading to the die cuts--may be a first for me!  Haha!

After I glued the layers together, I created my wax seal by melting some frosted wax beads.  I just use my heat tool to melt wax beads in the melting spoon.  So much faster!  I poured the melted wax onto my silicone mat and pressed the Sweet Happy Birthday wax seal stamp into the wax.  Once it had cooled, I used a gold pen to highlight the sentiment and flower.

For the A2 card base and layers, I added a dark violet layer to the card.  I had an embossed piece leftover from a previous project that I used for the next layer.  It was embossed with the gorgeous Flower Frenzy 3D embossing folder and measures 3" x 4".

I glued the Blooming Stems onto the embossed layer.  Then I added an wax seal sticker to the back of the wax seal to adhere it to the card.

This was such an easy card to make and I really love how it turned out!  I hope you do too!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Life Is Better With You Autumn Card and A Fun Instagram Hop

Today I'm sharing my card that's part of Honey Bee Stamps Instagram hop to celebrate the Spooktacular Release!  I'm keeping my card details brief so you can join us over on the hop to see lots of amazing inspiration from the Honey Bee team.

These are the Honey Bee products I used for my gorgeous autumn card:

  • Lovely Layers: Fall Foliage
  • Ornate A2 Cover Plate - Base
  • Rattan Basket die set
  • Grain and Grunge 6 x 8-½" paper pad
I find some so very relaxing and enjoyable about dropping various watercolors onto a piece of watercolor paper!  That's what I did first.  I used colors from a watercolor set and a metallic set (linked below) to fill the paper with gorgeous color.  I let them air dry, then die cut the Lovey Layers: Fall Foliage dies from the pieces.

I die cut the Rattan Basket from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and colored it with Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress ink.

I ran the top of my card base through my die cutting machine with the Ornate A2 Cover Plate Base.  Then I added a strip of paper from the Grain and Grunge paper pad.  I inked all the edges very lightly with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Beautiful Bloom stamp set in copper embossing powder.  Then I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

If you have any questions about my process, please use the "Contact me here" on the left side of my blog.  I'm always very happy to share my details!  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to join us over on the Instagram hop!

Ocean Scene Retirement Card

Hello crafty friends!  Today I'm sharing a beautiful retirement card that features Honey Bee Stamps awesome Seaside Summer stamp set!  I also added some pieces from the Shoreline Scene Builder dies to add extra dimension to my ocean scene.  Join me for the steps to make this card as I dream of being at the beach!!!

I began by creating my ocean scene using the Seaside Summer set.  All inks used are Distress Oxide inks. I also used my MISTI for all of the stamping so I could repeat the stamping as needed.

  • Stamp the bottom sand dune with Antique Linen.
  • I used a brayer to add Antique Linen to the second sand dune layer to make it appear lighter.
  • Stamp the top sand dune layer.
  • Stamp the shadows of the top sand dunes with Brushed Corduroy.
  • Use an ink blender brush or sponge dauber to color in the sand that will be between the dunes and the water.
Be sure to let these inks dry before beginning the next steps.  I used my heat tool, because I'm a tad bit impatient! LOL!

  • Plan where to position the grasses on the card.
  • Treat the cardstock with an anti static pouch.
  • Stamp the grasses with Mowed Lawn.
  • Then stamp with clear embossing ink, add clear embossing powder, and heat set.
  • Stamp the fences with Weathered Wood.
  • Stamp with clear embossing ink, add clear embossing powder, and heat set.

  • Stamp the ocean with Uncharted Mariner, Mermaid Lagoon, and Salvaged Patine.  Use a towel or ink blending brush to smooth out any hard lines between the color so the colors will blend.
  • Stamp the sun with Squeezed Lemonade and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
  • Mask off the ocean with some masking tape.  Use ink blender brushes to blend on Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, and Mermaid Lagoon.
  • Note:  After I inked the sky, the sun didn't show up anymore!  So I stamped the sun again with clear embossing ink and heat embossed Bee Sweet embossing powder over it.
  • Trim the panel to 3-¾" x 5".
Next I die cut some of the pieces from the Shoreline Scene Builder Honey Cuts and colored them with a few Copic Markers.  I adhered them with small pieces of foam tape and also Bee Creative glue.  The sentiment from the Seas The Day set is stamped with black ink and die cut with the coordinating die.  I popped it up with foam tape.  I adhered the panel to a 4" x 5-¼" piece of cardstock that I inked the edges of in Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide.  The panels are then glued to an A2 card base.

Check out the wax seals I made using the new Vitamin Sea Wax Melts and the Seashell Wax Stamper. These are so fun to make! I use my heat tool to melt the wax in the Wax Melting Spoon and pour them out onto a silicone mat. This way, if I mess it up, I won't have ruined an envelope. I just use a very strong adhesive like Glue Dots to attach them when I want to use one.

I wish it showed in the photos, but I did add some sparkle with a clear glitter pen to the white parts of the waves.

I hope you enjoyed my trip to the beach with my card today!  Have a wonderful, crafty day!  As always, thank you so much for stopping by!
