Pink Poinsettia Christmas Card

Today I'm sharing my Christmas card featuring Rubbernecker Stamps' gorgeous Poinsettia #2 die set.  I went with pink, silver and all of the splatters and sparkles today!

I created the poinsettias by die cutting watercolor paper with the Poinsettia #2 die (this is a one-piece die) three times.  I used scraps to die cut three more of the largest poinsettia layer.

Then I used ink blending brushes to color the petals with pink Color Fuse inks and green for the three largest layers.  The inks I used are linked below.

Before using my flower shaping tools to shape the petals, I added drops of white paint and Confetti White Perfect Pearls.  After the droplets dried I shaped the flowers with a few different sized styluses.

I used glue to adhere the poinsettia layers together by placing a drop or two of glue into the center of each layer.  While those dried, I die cut the poinsettia centers from mat silver cardstock and adhered three to the center of each poinsettia.

For even more sparkle, I used glue with a fine tip and added glue near the tips of each petal. I worked on just several at a time, sprinkling on chunky glitter, then adding glue to several more, glittering, and continuing until all petals had glitter.

I created a card base by layering silver metallic cardstock on an A2 card.  I die cut 80# Neenah with the Quilted Stitch Cover die and trimmed it to 4" x 5-¼" and glued it to the card.

Next I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Cheer set with Versamark ink and sprinkled on silver embossing powder.  After I heat set the embossing powder, I die cut the sentiment with a Small Tags die.  I added foam tape on the back to pop it up.

This may look like a super complicated card to make with these dimension poinsettias, but trust me, it's not!  I love creating these gorgeous shaped flowers for a card.  I hope you are inspired by my card, and as always, so appreciate you stopping by!

The Magic of The Season

Happy Tuesday, crafty friends!  Today my sparkly card is featuring some beautiful paper from Rubbernecker Stamps new Festive Farmhouse paper pad!  I've coordinated it with some glittery stenciling and a sparkly poinsettia!  Read on for the details.

First I created my card base.  These are the steps:

• I used the Snowflake stencil and spread some chunky gold glitter clear glaze through it onto 110# white cardstock.  Set it aside to dry.
• Die cut patterned paper from the Festive Farmhouse paper pad with the largest Nested Rectangle Small Stitch die.
• Partially die cut the dry stenciled panel with the same Rectangle Stitch die.  Adhere on top of the patterned paper die cut.
• Adhere the layer to an A2 card base.
• Cut some dark green paper from the Festive Farmhouse paper pad into a narrow strip and adhere to the card.

• I die cut the Poinsettia #2 from 80# white cardstock.
• Then I used some flower shaping tools to shape all of the petals.
• Before adhering all of the flower layers together, I used my finger to add some of the chunky glitter glaze to the petals' edges.
• After it dried, I used liquid glue to adhere the layers together and to add it to the card.
• The sentiment is from the Christmas Cheer Set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
• I added foam tape to the sentiment to pop it up on the card.

Let's Make Christmas Cards in July!

I love getting a head start on my holiday cards!  So we all at Rubbernecker Stamps are sharing holiday card inspirations to help get those ideas flowing!  Today, my card features the gorgeous Poinsettia #2 die set.

First I die cut the Poinsettia #2 dies two times from Specialty Cardstock.  I love the subtle texture this paper gives!  I used small ink blender brushes and sponge daubers to color the petals using Color Fuse inks from Set #4 and Set #10.  I applied Crimson ink at the tips of the petals, working towards the centers with each lighter shade.  I colored the largest petal with Basil ink.

Next I used flower shaping tools and a foam pad to add shape and dimension to each layer.  I colored the little flower centers with Fern ink from Set #11, and then shaped them with a tiny balled stylus.

To jazz up the flowers even more, I added splatters with a paintbrush and ink using a drop of the re-inker for Crimson and splatters of Basil re-inker on the green petals.  Next I mixed a small scoop of Confetti White Perfect Pearls with water and splattered that over all.  I set the pieces aside to dry.

I created my card base by stamping the greeting from the Christmas Cheer set with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto white 80# cardstock.  Then I trimmed it to 4" x 5-¼".  Next I ran the piece through my die cutting machine with the Diamond Pierced Cover die.

I really do like being matchy-matchy (LOL!) so I made a coordinating base layer by swiping the Scarlet ink pad along all four edges of an A2 white card.  I adhered the layer to the pierced layer with glue.  I glued my flower layers together and adhered them to my card.  I added a few pearl stickers here to the card for some extra bling!
