Pumpkin Spice Season | Art Impressions

Happy Monday friends!  As promised, I'm back this week with another card using the adorable Feast Mode Set!

I wanted to do something a little different for this card, but was stumped at first.  Then I had a thought to look through my drawer that has backgrounds I created, but didn't use.  I found this ink-blended panel and thought the colors were just right for an autumn card!  I made this background piece quite a while ago and am pretty sure it's inked with Mowed Lawn and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides.  I die cut it with a die from the Oval Double Stitched Dies.

I stamped the cute fox onto Neenah 80# cardstock and colored it with my Copic markers.  I then fussy cut it out.  However....I did not cut the leaves that are floating in the air!  Instead, I put the panel in my MISTI and placed the fox stamp where I wanted my colored image to be.  Then I inked only the leaves that aren't connected to the stamp and stamped it directly onto the inked piece.  Since the background is in yellows and greens, I knew that the Copic colors I used would look just fine to color in the leaves.  (All the marker colors are listed below.)  I popped up the fox with some thin foam tape and adhered him to the matted oval.  I used an older embossing folder for the embossed layer that is on a top-folding A2 5-½" x 4-¼" card base.

I stamped the sentiment in Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink and die cut it using a tag from the Tag Stitched Dies.  I also die cut the little reinforcer in the same brown and blue paper I used for the card layers and adhered it to the tag.  I added a little white brad to complete it and popped it up with some foam tape.

Thank you for stopping by!  I always appreciate it so much!

Stocking Gift Card Holder 2 Ways | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello friends!  I’m over on the Honey Bee Stamps blog today and I’m using the so cute Stocking Gift Card Holder.  I’ve made two of these, one a little more rustic and another a little more elegant.

For this rustic one, I used Thermo Web’s flocking sheet in Winter Latte for the stocking topper, toe, and heel.  I was super happy to find that you can stamp directly onto the flocked piece.  This sentiment is from the Santa Express set.  I used my MISTI and some black dye ink and stamped it twice.

I used the Holiday Traditions 6x6 paper pad for both of these.  You will need to cut two of the stockings for each one.  For the second cut, be sure to cut it on the opposite side of the paper—in other words, put the die on the back side of the patterned paper for the second one.  This way you'll have the same pattern showing on the front and back.  Fold in the tabs and adhere the two pieces together for the stocking.  Be sure to put your line of glue just along the side and bottom edges so the insert will fit in.

For the wreath on this stocking, I used the Joy Noel Wreath Honey Cuts. I cut the wreath twice from Neenah Desert Storm card stock.  I used a Detail Blender Brush to add some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink to the edges. I intertwined them and added a couple drops of glue to hold them together.  I die cut the leaves, berries, and bow from red card stock.  I used a ball stylus from the Heartfelt Creations Flower Shaping Essentials Kit to shape them.  I used Ranger Distress Collage Medium Matte to adhere everything in place.  The Honey Bee Die Release Tool is very handy here too!

One of my favorite things to do with die cuts like this is to put a thin glaze over them.  It helps to hold the shape and also makes them pop!  I like to use JudiKins Diamond Glaze for this.  I pour out a tiny bit and add a few drops of water to thin it.  I use a paint brush to apply a thin coat and let it dry.

For a little extra embellishment, I added stitched lines with a white gel pen and more leaves and berries on the heel and toe.

Next up is the "elegant" stocking.  The main part of the stocking is die cut from a sheet of paper from the Holiday Traditions paper pack.  For the other pieces, I used a specialty paper from Tonic Studios called Snowdrop Meadows.  I was quite pleased to see that even after die cutting, the texture and dimension remained!

For this wreath I used some Tim Holtz Kraft-Stock Gold Metallic paper.  Before I die cut the bow, leaves and berries from the specialty paper, I adhered a small piece to some Neenah 80# card stock.  This specialty paper doesn't have a lot of heft to it so by backing it, I was able to do some shaping of the elements.

For this sentiment, also in the Santa Express set, I stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.  I trimmed it down with my paper trimmer.  I used one of the little edge dies from the Banner Builder Honey Cuts to add the stitching on the end.

I think it's amazing how this patterned paper looks like REAL glitter paper!  I've used so much of the Holiday Traditions paper pad, I'm going to need to order more soon!

Here is a photo showing the inserts slid out a bit.  These inserts are the perfect size to hold a gift card.  Of course, you can just stamp or handwrite a sentiment instead!

So....are you team rustic, or team elegant?  LOL!  I'm definitely both!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful crafty time until we meet again!  Carol :)

Penguin Cheer & Week 2 of Holiday Card Challenge | Art Impressions

Hello my friends!  It's Week 2 of Art Impressions Holiday Card Challenge (your card can be for any holiday!), and for inspiration, I'm using the new Penguin Cheer set.  This is such a fun and sweet set with several images and sentiments which means you'll be able to make several different cards with one set!

I began in my usual way for Copic coloring by stamping with Ink on 3 Blackout Detail Ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# paper.  I've listed my Copic colors below.  After I had the penguins all colored I used a die from the Tag Stitched Dies set to cut it out.  I then colored in my background.

To get a perfectly sized layer for the tag, I used a pencil and traced around the outside edges of the die.  I used my trimmer to cut the straight edges, and hand trimmed the curved corners.  I colored the edge of the tag layer with a green Copic to coordinate with the images.  I also edged a 4-¼" x 5-½" card with the same green Copic and adhered it to a top folding A2 card base.  The next layer was embossed with a beautiful 3-D Snowflake embossing folder and trimmed to 4" x 5-¼".  I added some foam tape to the back of the tag and adhered it to the embossed layer.

I colored some white card stock with a red Copic I used, dried it, then heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder.  I die cut it out using the smallest of the Rectangle Double Stitched dies. I used some red ribbon from my stash to add a bow to the tag. I added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella and topped it off with JudiKins Diamond Glaze.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope to see your card in the challenge!  Have a great day!

Thankful For You | Art Impressions

Happy Monday friends!  Now that we are near the end of October, I've put away the Halloween stamps and have started working on some cards for friends and family to tell them how thankful I am for them.  The Feast Mode Set is just perfect to create sweet and fun cards!

This was a very easy card to make!  I began by stamping the squirrel and the floral swags in Copic safe ink.  I also stamped the squirrel onto some masking paper and fussy cut it out.  I put the mask in place and used some ink blending brushes to blend some Squeezed Lemonade and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks lightly around the image.  Here's a look at the blending and after removing the mask:

I removed the mask (always kind of magical!) and colored the images with my Copic markers and added additional shading with a few Prismacolor Pencils.  (All the colors are listed below.)

Once everything was colored I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I used a die from the Square Double Stitched Dies and cut it out.  I cut some coordinating paper from my stash to layer behind the square.  I used an embossing folder with some kraft color card stock and cut it to 4" x 5-1/4".  I used one of the "E" shade Copic markers to color some twine to match better.  I wrapped it around the kraft layer three times and tied with a knot.  I added foam tape to the back and adhered it to a top-folding A2 card base.

Next I used liquid glue to adhered the colored images to the embossed layer.  I wanted some kind of embellishment to put with the twine so I searched my stash and found an older die set that had acorns and leaves.  I used a few Copics to color them and added Glossy Accents to the acorn tops.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Check back next week and I will have another card featuring this fun set!  Have a fabulous, and crafty, week!

Gingerbread House Card | Honey Bee Stamps

If you came here from my Instagram, thank you!  As promised, a just-the-details blog post.

For this card, you need the House Builder Card Base die set + the Gingerbread House Add-On stamps and Honey Cuts.  (Which I now see are sold out--click the Notify Me button to know when they are back in stock--it will be soon!)  I used some kraft colored cardstock I've had forever, but I like the texture in this paper versus the Neenah Desert Storm paper.

Here are some of the steps:

  • For the candy, I used the dies in the Add On set that cut out the shape with some embossed lines (although after I got done with them, those don't really show).
  • The candy canes, peppermint sticks and gum drops were die cut with Neenah Solar White.
  • Then I used Copics markers to color and shade them.
  • I used a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen on the white portion of the peppermints.
  • I then coated them all the peppermints with JudiKins Diamond Glaze (my preference over Gossy Accents as it seems to dry less yellow.)
  • For the gumdrops I added some liquid glue (that dries clear) and topped them with Hero Arts Icicle Glitter.  (This stuff is amazing!)

Finally, for the trees and shrubs I added some snow with Tsukineko White Radiant Neon Amplify.  This is also amazing!  It puffs up when you use your heat gun and it's WHITE!   Not yellow!  I also added some NUVO White Gloss Crystal Drops to the trees.

Was this helpful?  I hope I've covered most of the details.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  I can't answer them from your comments here if you are a "no-rely blogger".  The best way is to use the contact form in the left column.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Grateful Hearts | Art Impressions

Happy Monday my friends!  I'm over on the Art Impressions blog today with this card that features the so sweet Grateful Hearts stamp set.

I stamped the images in Copic safe ink and colored them with the markers listed below.  I fussy cut them and set them aside to build the scene.  For this card, I thought I'd change up the typical autumn color scheme and leave out any orange pumpkins.  I love the white pumpkins that I see in stores, so those were the inspiration for the ones on my card.  Here are the steps for the rest of the card:
  • I used a cloud stencil to ink Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush for the clouds.
  • I inked a scrap piece of paper with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides.  Then I die cut that with a grass border die.
  • I used a heart die to cut the opening in the center of a 5" square piece of blue card stock.  I added stitching lines with a white gel pen and then I put foam tape on the back.
  • I positioned the stenciled clouds and grass die cut onto a 5-½" square top-folding card base.  I made sure these were positioned correctly before glueing them down.
  • I then adhered the blue piece on top.

Next I added some thin foam tape to the back of the mice.  I positioned the pumpkins and adhered with glue.  I stamped the sentiment onto a banner die and added it to my card. To finish it off, I added a few clear hearts here and there.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a fun and crafty week!

Christmas Blessings | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello my friends!  I'm over on the Honey Bee Stamps blog today with this oh, so sparkly Christmas card!  These products are part of the huge, and so amazing, Season to Sparkle release.  Click HERE to see it all--there's something for everyone!

It was quite the challenge for me to photograph this card to capture the beautiful, sparkly glitter!  I started this card by adhering a sheet of Scor-Tape double-sided adhesive to a 4" x 5-¼" warm gray card panel.  I removed the backing and added some WOW! Glass Slipper glitter and then burnished it in.  I wanted a warm gray background to better set off the snowflakes.

I then die cut a bunch of snowflakes from the Layering Snowflakes Honey Cuts two times each.  FYI, there are 16 snowflake dies in this set!!  I adhered the layers together and began arranging them on the glittered panel.  I started arranging them from the center out, letting some hang over the edge.  Once I was happy I glued them all down with Distress Collage Medium Matte.  When it was dry, I cut off the parts hanging over the edge.  I used a few of those extra pieces to fill in along the edge.

Next, I stamped the greeting from Christmas Blessings in Versafine Onyx Black ink and die cut it with the coordinating Honey Cut.  I die cut the rectangle frame, also in the Christmas Blessings Honey Cuts, twice from white cardstock.  I adhered the two scalloped edge pieces together.  I covered some warm gray cardstock in double-sided adhesive and cut it out with the rectangle frame.  I just used the center portion and added glitter after removing the backing.  I popped up the pieces with foam tape and adhered the sentiment.

I love the dimension and the sparkle of this card!!   And....just to add a bit more sparkle cause there's not quite enough, I added a Prism Gem Sticker to the center of the snowflakes!

There are so many ways to use these beautiful snowflake dies, and I hope I've given you some inspiration to give this set a try! Thank you so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful, crafty day!
