Halloween Votive Lantern | Rubbernecker Stamps

Hi friends!  I've created a fun Halloween Votive Lantern for Rubbernecker Stamps' non-card Halloween feature!  I used the Halloween Slimline stamp to create the lantern for my battery operated votive.  Here is what it looks like in the daylight.  Keep reading to see it lit up!

To create the lantern:
  • Cut a piece of 40# vellum to 8-½" x 4".
  • I stamped the Halloween Slimline stamp onto the vellum with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  • Add clear embossing powder and heat set.  Make sure your heat tool is hot and move it around quickly to minimize any warping of the vellum.
  • Color the backside of the stamped image with Copic markers.  Don't bother to try blending your shades, as it doesn't blend well, and frankly, kind of makes a mess!  Ask me how I know!  Haha!
  • More coloring tips:  Use dark shades of your colors!  The vellum really mutes the colors.  I used a #10 white Jelly Roll pen for images I wanted white.
  • To give it a finished look, I pulled out some ribbon from my stash and ran the strips through my old Xyron Sticker Maker.  I overlapped the ribbon and adhered it to the top and bottom edges of the vellum.
  • Apply ¼" Scor-Tape to the short ends and adhere together to form a round shape.
  • Next I created the little ghosts and bat bangles.

I pulled out my Ranger Shrink Plastic and die cut the the shapes from the Ghosts die and the bat that's in the Bats and Spiderwebs die.  I followed directions on the shrink plastic package and used my heat tool to shrink them down.  Once they cooled off I used a white gel pen and a Sharpie to color the back side of the pieces.  I attached silver thread with glue to hang them.  I added a bow to the top edge.

And now here it is lit at night:

Thank you for stopping by and I hope I've inspired you to try creating a non-card project!

Ghoul Friends, Art Impressions

Happy Monday friends!  I have this card over on the Art Impressions blog today that features the fun Ghoul Friends set.  I'm definitely in the mood for fall as it's still ridiculously hot here in Texas!

I used a Copic safe ink to stamp the gals and colored them with the markers listed below.  I used a gold Gelly Roll pen to add dots to the purple dress for some shine.  I also used a Copper Metallic Gelly Roll pen to add sparkle to the orange shoes and the pumpkin costume.  I used a Square Double Stitched die to cut the image out.

I layered everything using a Halloween paper pad I got last year at Michaels.  I stamped the spider web from the Ghoul Friends set and fussy cut it out.  I popped it up with a foam square and added it next to the sentiment.

I always appreciate you stopping by--thank YOU!!  Have a fun, crafty week!

Boo to You!!! for Art Impressions

Hello to you on this fine Monday!  Today is my day over on the Art Impressions blog and my card features this adorable Halloween Magic Set!

Yes!  The stars glow in the dark!!  I stamped the stars in WOW! Regular Glow-in-the-Dark embossing powder.

Since my card base is black I used an Art Impressions A2 Stitched Rectangle die to cut a panel from white card stock and stamped the sentiment inside.

I really love how the background really highlights the sweet girl and her cat!

I have many more details for creating the background over on the Art Impressions blog.  I hope you'll click over and check it out!  Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look!

Week 2 - Art Impressions Challenge #239 - Treat Bags!!

Hello to you all!  It is Week 2 of Art Impressions' Treat Bag challenge.  The challenge is to make treat bags!  Your treat bags can be for any occasion at all:  birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas--well you get the picture!

I'm using images from the new Halloween Magic Set to create my matching set of treat bags, two ways, plus a matching card.  Wouldn't these be fun to give to that very special little trick or treater?!

For my first treat bag I've used a small kraft bag to hang my tag on.  I've used a metal clip so the recipient can remove the tag and read the sentiment you have written on the back.

My next treat bag is using a cellophane bag.  I've attached my stamped image panel to a flap that closes the bag with goodies inside.  For this label, I've colored the word Halloween to look like candy corn!

Finally, I have a matching card that could be used with a treat bag, or just given by itself!

I hope you've found some inspiration here and will join us in our Treat Bag Challenge!!!
