Gilded Rose -- Using A Hot Foil Plate As A LetterPress Plate

Hello!  Today I'm sharing some details of my card that I created for my reel for Altenew and shared over on my Instagram.

I've used a set I've had a while, but only one time!  The Gilded Rose is a Hot Foil Plate that also has coordinating stencils for coloring the image.  I always like trying to find a different way to use products and I wondered if this would work as a letterpress press plate.

NOTICE:  I have been informed, rather sternly, by a few people that Spellbinders does not recommend using hot foil plates with the BetterPress Letterpress system.  My machine is old enough to not be under any warranty.  If you choose to try this, please be aware of the recommendation from Spellbinders.  My machine was not harmed, fyi.  

I'm very happy with how the pressed image turned out!  I set up the Gilded Rose hot foil plate in my Betterpress Letterpress system, inked it up with Mahogany Bark Crisp Dye Ink.  I ran it through my die cutting machine with an A2 size piece of 80# Neenah.

Then I used the coordinating stencils and blending brushes to add Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Burnt Red Crisp Dye inks. (Linked in the list below.)

Next I embossing white cardstock with the Angled Mosaic 3D embossing folder.  I added metallic watercolor splatters with two colors in the Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set.

I also added a few splatters to the Gilded Rose piece.  When the splatters were dry, I used my scissors to cut it out.

I used glue to adhere the embossed panel and the Gilded Rose image to my A2 card base.

The sentiment is the Wonderfully Made die and is die cut from Brushed Gold Metallic cardstock and layered up with three more white cardstock die cuts.  I just love the font and size of this!
