Online Card Classes Clear & Sheer, Acetate Embossing

This card is inspired by the lesson on day 4 and Debby Hughes' beautiful card.  She showed us how to heat emboss on acetate and then color with alcohol markers on the back.

I used one of my favorite stamps: Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea---just love this!  The frame is Spellbinder's A-2 Fancy Ribbon Threader.  After I colored the flower (yes I love bright colors!) I also ran the acetate through with the frame die so I could stitch around the outside edge.

I learned something new too.  I've always known that you can die your ribbon with Distress Inks.  Well I didn't have a Distress Ink that coordinated well enough (& I do like to be coordinated!) so I wondered if I could color the ribbon using the same markers that I used for the flower.  TaDaaa!!  It worked!  Used my heat tool to dry it.  I also put drops of plain old rubbing alcohol on the ribbon and it gave it a very interesting look (doesn't really show in the photo too much).  Note to self (and anyone else trying this):  WEAR GLOVES--the ink really does stain the fingers!  LOL!

Online Card Classes, Clear & Sheer

I've loved every Online Card Class I've taken and this one is no exception!  Clear and Sheer covers ways to use vellum and acetate.

This card has a background I created and colored using Altenew's Botanical Garden stamp set.  I stamped and colored this a couple months ago and didn't know what to do with it.  One of our lessons was on ways to attached vellum so it doesn't show.  I attached it between the black frame that I die cut twice.

I created the next card using stamps and dies from the March My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts.  Love how the Wink of Stella looks on the dragonflies wings!

Rock Star!!

The awesome and super talented Sandy Allnock has a super fun challenge on her blog.  It's called #craftchella2016 and you can read all about it here.

The challenge is to make a card that is musically inspired and also to use a stamp by creatively stretching its use.

I was stumped at first, but I went through all of my stamps and came up with an idea inspired by Sandy's card.  I have fiddle-diddled with this card all week and finally got it all put together.  I can't believe how many different stamp sets I used a piece of in this card.

Here is the photo of my card showing the stamps that I used most creatively (well, not the bird, Haha!   But I suppose birds don't hold microphones when they sing :)

Check out his podium that he's singing on!  And the pool of light?  Yep, it's the sand stamp!  His microphone is the pencil with the round tip being one of his eyeballs that was die cut with his beak!

Just look at the stamp sets and dies that I used at least one piece from!

Pretty crazy I think!  Thanks, Sandy, for this fun challenge!  I really admire your work and have learned a lot from you!

Happy Birthday Multi-layering stamps

My daughter loved this card I made her for her 26th birthday!  How does the time fly?

I used JustRite Romantic Wild Roses stamp and dies for this card.  As you can see from the photos below, I made an extra panel, adhered with washi tape, that opens so I could right my sweet, mushy birthday message to her. :)

I cut the sentiment from Design Space with my Cricut Explore.

Day 6, Smoosh Resist

Haha!  Love the title for this day's class in Altenew Academy!  I really think I set a personal record for how quickly this card came together!

I used the same Distress Ink colors that Laura Basson did in the lesson.  I used the gorgeous flower from Altenew"s Beautiful Day.  The sentiment is from that set too.  The clear dew drops (that's what I call them :) are from Pretty Pink Posh  and are officially called droplets.

This was really fun to make and I thought it turned out pretty good.  My test is always "would I send it to someone".  LOL!

Day 2, Generation Stamping

I've enjoyed Altenew's Altenew Academy, Clean, Simple and Colorful Techniques in spite of having forgotten about it until yesterday.  It is a fantastic class!  How could you not like it with the fabulous, enjoyable, and talented Laura Bassen teaching us these fun techniques.

For Day 2 I needed a geometric shaped stamp.  Well, seriously, the only thing close was from a stamp set by Sunny Studio called Birthday Smiles.  I actually used the ice cream cone stamp for my generation stamping.  I highlighted one of the stamps by finishing it with the layering stamp for the cone.  My biggest hurdle was finding inks to do the generation stamping with.  I really don't have a lot of quality dye inks.  I know there are some fabulous ones out there---but how to choose?!!

Anyway, here's the card with some Wink of Stella and a few sequins added.  I really like it when I'm reminded to look at my stamps differently!   Thanks for looking :)

Tweet Friends Thank You card

I've made a thank you card with two of my most favorite stamps by My Favorite Things called Beautiful Blooms and Tweet Friends and their coordinating Die-namics by the same names.  I also used the perfect handwritten sentiment from Joy Clair from the Thank You for Everything stamp set.  The checked tablecloth was made with a cute gingham stamp from Lawn Fawn called Gingham Backdrops.

I inked a bit of a background yellow with Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade.

I just love how this card turned out.  It was quite the challenge to get all of the flowers and stems that I stamped situated just right! :)

I'm entering this into Joy Clair's Monthly Challenge for March titled Spring.   I think this card fits the bill with all of the soft spring colors!
