Made in the U.S.A., Art Impressions

Hello Ai Fans!

This is Week #2 of Art Impressions' Patriotic Colors challenge!  I've used the fun Produce Stand MTF (mini tri-fold) set for my card today.  All of the supplies I used are listed below.

I used a tri-fold card and following the instructions that are with the stamp set, I stamped the images and die cut the openings.  Before stamping the main image, I masked off the words on the sign so I could hand write my own words on it.  Everything is colored with alcohol markers.  The exception is where I used the tiny grass stamp from the WC Foliage set with die ink and stamped it multiple times for the grassy area.

Here is how the card looks as you open it:

And totally closed for mailing:

Go to the Art Impressions blog to see more inspiration from the design team!  I always so appreciate you stopping by and would love for you to say "hello"!

Fluttery Piggy! for Art Impressions

Hello!  Hope your week is off to a good start!  I'm over on the Art Impressions blog today with this fun birthday card using the Pig Flutter Set.

I colored the fluttering pig with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I also used a marker to tint the brads so they will blend in a bit.   I used a stitched oval die to cut an oval from watercolor paper.  I stamped the stones, grass and flowers with Marvy Leplume II markers and blended them out with a damp brush.   I really love combining Art Impressions water color stamps with traditional stamping!

The pull mechanism is really easy to make, so don't be intimidated!  There are very clear instructions on the back of the stamp packaging or you can watch the helpful YouTube video here.  I used a corner rounder that I've had forever to add a decorative edge to the pull tab before adhering my little die cut and stamped oval sentiment.

This photo shows the tab pulled, and the cute little pig fluttering away!  When the tab is up, it's out of the way for mailing and also hides the little slit.

Thank you for taking a look!  You can find a complete list of the supplies on my Art Impressions blog post!

Twofer Card Challenge--Trees

Hello!  I'm joining in the Twofer Card Challenge #6--Trees!

Several years ago, I was at this charming stamp shop in Salado, Texas called Stamp Salado.  I bought  two lovely wood mounted rubber stamps, one a tree (no leaves) and the other, leaves.  These stamps were designed by Deadbeat Designs.  These stamps have been sadly neglected!

I used both stamps in two different ways.  The first is with my Marvy LePlume II markers.  I swiped the markers onto the stamp, then softened the stamped image with water and a brush.  I stamped the leaves in three different green shades of Marvy markers and again, softened the leaves.  The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson's Lovely set and stamped in Distress Oxide Vintage Photo.

The second card is my first Christmas card for the upcoming season!  Yay!  Just heat embossing here!  I used two Sparkle N Sprinkle embossing powders:  Shimmer and Winter White.  The snowflakes, and sentiment (embossed in Ranger silver powder), are from Concord and 9th's Oh Christmas Tree set.

Thank you for stopping by!  Carol

Hugs to You!, Art Impressions

Hello, Ai fans!

Today I have a card over on the Art Impressions blog using the oh, so fun Giraffe Twist Ties stamps!  This also comes with a die to perfectly cut out the opening.  To get started, I watched this instructional video on Art Impressions YouTube channel.

I colored these sweet giraffes with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  I also used the markers to swipe in some grass to give them a place to stand.   For the inside, I used Distress Oxide inks, a stencil and stencil brush for the sun rays.

Thanks so much for taking a look!  The complete supply list is over at the Art Impressions blog!

When Pigs Fly--Art Impressions Challenge Week 2

Hello!  It's the second week of Art Impressions Challenge--Odd Animals--featuring the Funny Farm release.

I've used the so fun Guinea Pig Set.  If this cutie can't fly, then it means we aren't old, right?!!  LOL!  Have you ever Google searched guinea pigs?  Well I did, and found out they are lots of different colors, and so cute!!

I created a fun background with a cloud stencil and a grass border die with some flowers.  Also, for the first time, I used some birds from the WC Bird set; and yes, you can use these just the same as a traditional stamp!!!

I put the cute little guinea onto a mini action wobble for extra fun!  See the action here:

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Be sure to go over to the Art Impressions blog for more inspiration for this challenge!

Art Impressions Watercolor--First Post for Design Team

Hello!  I am so excited and thrilled beyond words to be making my first post as an Art Impressions Design Team member!!!  I also have this over on Art Impressions blog.  Click over there and sign up to get their blog post notifications so you see all the wonderful inspiration from the other design team members.

For my first post, I thought it very fitting to use a few of my watercolor stamps (yep, I have quite a lovely collection of them!)   I live in an area that is fortunate to have two of the big crafts shows nearby and Art Impressions is at both!  I watched Bonnie Krebs demo in their booth and for the longest time thought that I could never do that!  Finally, in 2015, I took an Ai watercolor class at the Scrapbook EXPO and was totally hooked!!!  If you watch Bonnie's videos and hear her say, "you can do this", it's true!!!!  Go to their YouTube and find some of the earlier videos--anyone can do this!!  Can you tell I'm a fan?  LOL!

I created a circular card and died some ribbon to get a perfect match!

Here's how I died the ribbon.  Scribble your marker, spritz with a bit of water, and dunk it in.  I blotted this one onto a paper towel to lighten the intensity of the color.  Let it dry and it's ready to use.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my very first post for Art Impressions!  I can't wait to share my creations using their other fabulous stamps!
