Happy Independence Day eve to my US friends! And happy Wednesday to everyone else! Tomorrow is our big holiday to celebrate the USA so, of course, I just had to make a red, white, and blue card! The Sunkissed Summer release by Honey Bee Stamps has lots of awesome products perfect for this project. I used the new Americana Heavy Crepe Paper with the Star Spangled 3D embossing folder, and the Let Freedom Ring stamps and coordinating dies for my patriotic card.
I had an idea for the new Americana Heavy Crepe Paper, but wasn't sure how it would turn out. I added a Tear Tape Sheet double-sided adhesive to a piece of 80# Neenah. Then I adhered 1-5/8" strips of the red, white, and blue Americana Heavy Crepe paper to the piece.
Next I very lightly spritzed the back of the cardstock with water and placed it in the Star Spangled 3D embossing folderand ran it through my die cutting machine. I love how this turned out! Not only do you have the beautiful embossed stars on it, but also the texture from the crepe paper!
I embossed an A2 piece of white cardstock in the Star Spangled 3D embossing folder. Then I trimmed a strip from the crepe paper panel 1-3/8" x 5-½". I adhered it with glue to the white embossed panel.
Next I chose one of the stamps from the Let Freedom Ring stamp set and stamped it with a dark blue ink. I cut it out with the coordinating die.
For the banner below the stamped image, I die cut two red and one white crepe paper banners with two dies in the Lovely Layers: Buntings dies. I used glue to adhere them to the bottom of the stamped image.
Next I stamped the sentiment from the Because Of The Brave stamp set in the dark blue ink and cut it out with the coordinating die. Then I stamped three of the fireworks that are in the Big Pickup Add-on: Americana set in blue and red ink and die cut them with the coordinating dies.
To assemble the card I first tied red gingham ribbon to the card layer and then glued that to an A2 card base. I adhered the other elements with foam dots and foam strips. Of course, fireworks need some sparkle and the gems from the Americana Gem Stickers added just the right amount of sparkle!
It was really fun to use crepe paper on my card today. I love trying different things! Thank you so much for stopping by!
