Online Card Class--Day 7

Hi!  I didn't know if I would have time to get my card for Day 7 done in time, but I did.  I don't have alphabet dies, however my Cricut Explore filled in just fine to cut some letters for me.

My inspiration was Jennifer McGuire's 2nd card with the word Celebrate in rainbow colors.  I used her technique for lining up the letters by using the gridlines on my cutting mat to line them up.  I then put a piece of extra sticky tape on top, flipped them all over, applied my glue to the back and then adhered them to my card.

I really had fun making this card!  I mixed a dab of embossing paste with each ink color.  I then spread each color in narrow strips over the embossing die onto the paper.  (I taped the paper with the die over it onto my craft sheet before beginning.)  After removing the die, I sprinkled crystal glitter on the embossing paste before it dried.
I tried to get an angle to show the glitter.

Here's a closeup to show the layered letters and glitter.
I cut five sets of letters and layered them all together for the dimension.  I used various glitters in colors that were similar to the ink colors I blended into the embossing paste.

I really enjoyed this messy process!  :)  I so appreciate the comments I've received over the course of these lessons.  Thank you!!!

These are the product I used:
Spellbinders Cascading Dots die
Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste
Memento Dew Drop in: Lady Bug, Tangelo, Dandelion
Distress Ink: Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Dusty Concord
Hero Arts Neon Pink
Flowers: I've had in my stash for a long time.

Online Card Class-Day 6

I am so enjoying these card classes.  Day 6 is about using border dies in different ways.  I sound like a broken record, but I don't have many basic dies.  So I managed to use one of four I have.

I used part of an older Spellbinders die called Classic Scallop to cut the edges of the white card stock.    The matching stamp is from JustRite.  I only used three inks:  Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, VersaMagic Turquoise Gem, and Hero Arts Shadow ink in Charcoal mid-tone for the sentiment.  Oh, the sentiment is part of a 4-piece set I received when I did Fun Stampers Journey make and take at the Scrapbook Expo in February.

Thank you for checking out my card.  I really enjoyed the process!

Online Card Class, Day 5

Day 5 of the Online Card Classes, Stretching Your Dies, was about using coordinating dies.  Dies that have a coordinating stamp.

All of the instructional videos were so awesome!  But again, I had to use the technique that I thought I could with the supplies I have.  Shari Carroll's fit my supplies.  The only thing I was missing was some white StazOn ink.  So off to Michael's I go.  What a score!  It seems that they have several things on clearance.  I got the last StazOn white ink for $3.49!!!  (See my photo below for a few more great buys!)

I used JustRite clear stamp collection called Romantic Wild Rose.  I stamped the center portion of the flower in StazOn Cotton White on my acetate.  I used the Tsukineko Memento inks that I bought today for the stamping.  A little Spellbinders tag and sentiment with some ribbon I've had forEVER and I was done.

All of this stamping was made SO much easier using my MISTI (Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented)  This awesome lady has invented an amazing tool!!! http://mysweetpetunia.com

I really had fun making this card and using the stamps from JustRite that I bought last month.  I am really loving all of the fun new ways to use dies.

Here's a photo of my bargains:

The StazOn stamp cleaner was $1.79---the others were $3.49!  What a steal!
Thank you so much for looking at my photos.  I just started my blog in January and the comments I've received this week have really made me smile!

Online Card Class, Day 4

Our Stretching Your Dies online card class had some fantastic videos today.  Of the three styles demonstrated in the videos, I chose the one by Carissa Wiley showing how to enhance pattern paper with die cut windows.  That fit with the few tiny dies that I have.

I used paper from an older stack from Basic Grey called Urban Prairie.  It has been one of my favorites, and I suppose I somewhat hoard the paper.  Haha!  The tiny flower die is from Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch collection.

It really took me quite a while to decide what to do for this card.  Again, I don't have very many small dies.  I really used to think that I have a lot of dies!  :)

Online Card Classes, Day 3

Day 3 is all about basic shape dies.  I have found that I'm very deficient in basic shape dies!  So I used one of the few that would work.

I used Spellbinders Pierced Rectangles and also A2 Matting Basics B to make the frame.  The paper is an older, but well loved, stack from Basic Grey called pb&j.  I have used this so much!

The sentiment is one from Heartfelt Creations.

This was a challenge because of my limited basic shapes.  Another item to add to the shopping list!  I do LOVE shopping!  Haha!

Online Card Class, Day 2

Here is my Day 2 card from the Online Card Class.  This was really fun and something I never would have thought to do with my dies.

I did the technique shown by the awesome Kristina Werner and used Distress Inks on watercolor paper to create the paper for the butterflies.  My ink colors were Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Dusty Concord, and Mustard Seed.

The dies I used were from Spellbinders, Simon Says Stamp, and Heartfelt Creations.  Gotta have some sparkle so I added some clear Wink of Stella to the sentiment that I cut from my Cricut Explore.  I cut it 3 times and layered it for dimension.

I never thought I needed the sentiment dies, but now I am thinking I need to do some shopping for some!

Online Card Classes, Day 1 Card

This is my first online card class ever!  The lessons with the videos are so good!  Day 1 was taught by the awesome Jennifer McGuire, Julie Ebersole, and Debby Hughes.

Day 1 was yesterday so I'm a day behind but I hope to catch up tomorrow with Day 2 and Day 3.  Two cards in one day?  Hmm, we shall see!

Day One card is all Bo Bunny with Want2Scrap pearls.

Well, wish me luck to get two cards done tomorrow!   I have such a struggle choosing papers! HaHa!

Special Occasion Card

Happy Saturday!  It's been a fun day.  My sister and I hosted a bridal shower for our sweet niece.  I made a special card to go along with the gift we gave her.

I used Spellbinders Framed Label 18 3-D Em-Bossibilities folder.  I inked the embossing folder before running it through the Grand Caliber.  I really love this look!

The sentiment, leaf stems and butterfly are Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies.  I used VersaMark ink on velum and embossed it with white embossing powder.  For the butterfly I stamped and embossed it the same way as the leafs.  I used Distress Ink on the back of the butterfly to color it.

The pretty flower is one I bought at Michael's by Recollections.  Oh, I had to have a bit of sparkle, so I used a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen on all of the de-bossed portions of the card base.  I just love sparkles!

Here is a close up of the butterfly.

You can see how the Wink of Stella really shines here.

Thank you for looking at my blog.  I hope you liked my card and will say Hello in the comment section!

Happy Birthday w/Framed Labels 18

Happy Birthday Card

Yes, two posts in one day.  I'm in between projects and thought I'd post another one.  This is a birthday card I made for our sweet daughter who turned 25 last month.  My how time flies!  I'm sure I don't feel 25 years older!

I really had fun creating this card.  I struggle with the details so many times when I am starting to design a card.  I had asked my daughter what her current favorite color is.  She said blue, and light blue!  With that information, I chose the papers I wanted to use first before thinking about anything else.  It did seem to make the process go more smoothly.  I will try choosing paper first next time to see if it was a fluke, or not!

All of the papers are from a pack from Authentique.  The collection is called Original.  I used one of Spellbinders 3-D embossing folders called Framed Labels 18.  I carefully put VersaMark ink onto the debossed side of the folder, added the paper and ran it through my Grand Caliber.  I sprinkled on white embossing powder and used a brush to remove a little bit here and there.  After I heat embossed it, I  cut off the bottom section of the embossed piece.

The flower is Create A Daisy, also from Spellbinders, and the butterfly is a stamp with matching die from Our Daily Bread.  I love bling and always try to get it onto any project I can!  These pearls from Want2Scrap were perfect!

I hope you like my card.  Please say hello in my comment section--would love to know if anyone is seeing my blog.  Thanks and have a wonderful week!

Tags and Label with Cricut Explore

Cricut Explore Crafting

Can't believe it's March 1 already!  It has been a cold, icy, snowy last week of February here in north Texas.  I'm so ready for springtime warmth!

I'm hosting a bridal shower in a few weeks.  The bride's color is called Horizon Blue (David's Bridal) and she's using burlap decor.  Thought I'd tie into that some for the shower.  I found an idea on Pinterest for shower favors that I think everyone will like.  I always seem to want to "bling" up a project just a notch though so I used my Cricut Explore and Design Space to create the sweet tag on the seed packets.  Design Space is so wonderful and easy!  I added a tag image, text, and the flower bunch onto my mat.  Used the flatten function in order to print then cut the tag out!

I love how they turned out!

I also designed the label for this sign in Design Space.  Used Print then Cut, printing it on a sheet of Cricut's printable vinyl.  The little flower stems and butterfly were created with a stencil, white pigment ink, and of course, glitter!

Thank you for visiting my blog!
